Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley says full-back Connor Ogilvie, winger Michael Jacobs and striker Gassan Ahadme could all return when his side face Burton on Tuesday night.

The trio have all been absent from the Pompey for the last three weeks, having last featured in the EFL Trophy defeat to AFC Wimbledon on the 7th September.

Ogilvie's absence over the course of much of September has been down to a quad issue, while Jacobs and Norwich loanee Ahadme have both endured slow starts to the campaign.

Now however, it seems as though the trio could all be given the chance to make their mark against Burton at the Pirelli Stadium.

Providing an update on his squad's fitness situation ahead of that game, Cowley told Portsmouth's official website: “We’re in pretty good shape in terms of moving on from Saturday, with no new injury concerns.

“As well as the squad that were involved at Charlton, there’s Connor Ogilvie, Michael Jacobs and Gassan Ahadme all to pick from.”

Having failed to win any of their last six league games, Portsmouth go into that match with the Brewers tenth in the League One table, two points adrift of the play-offs.

The Verdict

This should be a rather welcome boost for Portsmouth ahead of this clash with Burton.

Following that disappointing recent run, you do feel as though the pressure is on Cowley and Pompey to start picking up some positive results sooner rather than later.

The return of these three players ought to give Cowley's side something of a lift, potentially allowing him to give others a rest, or taking a different tactical approach if necessary.

You also feel this trio will be keen to get back to action and make their mark for the senior side, which could help to make this something of an opportunity for Portsmouth at the Pirelli.
