Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley has claimed that the club are trying to develop the physicality of Reece Brown in order to prepare him to compete in the Championship.

Brown joined the Terriers from Forest Green Rovers following the expiration of his contract with the League Two side at the end of last season, with the two clubs reportedly agreeing a £130,o00 fee for the attacking midfielder.

Since then, it has been a slow start to the season for Brown, whose only appearance for Huddersfield came in a 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City in the opening round of the Carabao Cup.

Despite that, it seems that Brown is still in the mind of Cowley, who was appointed as the Terriers new boss during the September international break.

Speaking about Brown in his pre-match press conference - as quoted by the club's official media - ahead of their meeting with Millwall on Saturday afternoon, Cowley revealed that the club are 'working hard' on getting the 23-year-old physically ready for the challenges of the Championship.

Brown did previously make 16 Championship appearances for Birmingham earlier in his career, although he only once completed a full 90 minutes during that time.

It has been a poor start to the campaign for the Terriers following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, having picked up just a single point from their opening eight league games to leave them bottom of the early Championship standings.

The Verdict

I think getting Brown ready for the Championship will be a huge boost for Huddersfield.

Brown showed during last season at Forest Green just how influential a presence his pace and creativity makes him, and that is just what the Terriers need right now.

Bringing him in to make that sort of difference could both provide an improved service for, and relieve some of the pressure on, the likes of Karlan Grant at the top of Huddersfield's attack.

You imagine, therefore, that Cowley will be keen to get this process completed as quickly as possible.
