Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley says that the club are awaiting the results of a scan on a knee injury suffered by midfielder Jonathan Hogg, while on-loan goalkeeper Kamil Grabara has returned to training following his recent injury layoff.

Hogg limped out of the Terriers' 2-1 win at home against Bristol City after just 33 minutes on Tuesday night, and it seems the club are now playing a waiting game when it comes to the midfielder's fitness.

Providing an update on Hogg in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday afternoon's clash with relegation rivals Charlton, Cowley was quoted by Huddersfield's official Twitter account as saying: “Jonathan Hogg has had a scan and we are still waiting for the results. He’s a little bit sore today.

“We’ll have to wait and see on him."

Grabara meanwhile hasn't featured for Huddersfield since suffering a head injury in a collision with Terriers defender Christopher Schindler during their 2-1 win at Hull at the end of January.

It seems however, as though the Liverpool loanee is now closing in on a return to action, as Cowley went on to reveal: "Kamil Grabara has trained regularly and is now fully fit and available to play."

Despite that, it seems Cowley has no intention of rushing back into the side, with the Terriers boss adding: “We would like Kamil Grabara to have a game before he’s available for the First Team.

“It’ll help him psychologically and for confidence purposes.”

Prior to his injury, Grabara had featured in 28 league appearances for the Terriers during his season-long loan with the club, while Hogg has featured 30 times in all competitions this season.

Huddersfield are currently 19th in the Championship table, two points clear of the relegation zone with 11 games of the season remaining.

The Verdict

I think this is a sensible approach for Cowley to with Grabara take here.

With the amount of awareness there is around head injuries these days, it makes no sense for Huddersfield to risk any further damage by rushing the goalkeeper back, even if it does appear as though he is fully fit.

Indeed, given what happened last time he was on the pitch, you could more than understand Grabara being nervous when he does return to action, meaning it makes sense to let him get a game or two under his belt to build his confidence back up, before bringing him back into the highly pressurised environment of a Championship relegation battle.

The situation around Hogg meanwhile, appears less clear, although you imagine Huddersfield will want his experience and ability available again as soon as possible, ahead of what will be a crucial stage of the season for them.
