Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley says that right-back Danny Simpson is available to return from injury when his side face QPR on Saturday afternoon, while midfielder Jonathan Hogg is "almost there".

Simpson hasn't featured in either of the Terriers' last two games due to a contact injury suffered in a goalless draw with Brentford, while a combination of suspension and a hamstring problem mean Hogg hasn't appeared in any of the club's last four outings.

Now however, it appears though the duo are both close to being in contention for selection once again, something which the Terriers appears to see as a significant boost for his side.

Speaking about the pair in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side's clash with Rangers, Cowley was quoted by Huddersfield's official Twitter account as saying: “Danny Simpson and Jonathan Hogg have been back on the grass.

“Hoggy is hopefully almost there and Danny is back available which is great for us as he’s a solid attacking player. Bringing him back into the squad is a major positive for us.”

So far this season, Simpson has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Terriers, while Hogg has featured a total of 25 times for the club in the current campaign.

The Verdict

This does look as though it should be welcome news for Huddersfield.

With QPR rather out of form at the minute, the Terriers ought to see this as an opportunity to pick up some crucial points in their own battle against relegation this season.

As a result, having one and maybe two players with the experience of Simpson and Hogg in contention to feature again should be a big plus for Cowley's men, since it should help them to control the game against a struggling side.

It will therefore be interesting to see how Cowley elects to use the duo on Saturday, which could be an indicator of his confidence in both them, and their Huddersfield teammates.
