Former Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley has praised the performances of Cauley Woodrow for Barnsley during a recent episode of the EFL on Quest

Woodrow has been in fine form for the Tykes so far this campaign, netting five goals in his opening 11 games in all competitions, thus once again showing his potency in the Championship on a consistent basis.

It seems that the powerful forward has finally found a place to settle and call home in the second division after enduring a sub-par spell at Fulham, whilst also spending time on loan at various Football League clubs throughout the earlier stages of his career to date.

Speaking on the 25-year-old's strong showings in front of goal, Cowley had this to say:

“Cauley Woodrow for me now is one of the best number nine’s in the division, plays this sort of false-nine role, with good combination skills and he carries a goal threat."

The striker has now found the net on 39 occasions for the Tykes in just under 90 games and currently has a contract at Oakwell that expires in the summer of 2023.

The Verdict

For me personally, it is great to see Woodrow thriving at Championship level after finding his feet at Barnsley in his first few seasons with the club.

I first saw the striker play for Southend United a few years back and the way he has developed since then has been nothing short of sensational.

If he continues to find the net on a consistent basis for the Tykes, he could well find himself being a wanted man come the January transfer window, with Premier League clubs sure to be sniffing around sooner or later.

For now his focus will be on Barnsley's upcoming league games as they seek to continue their recent improved form in the league over the next couple of weeks.
