Huddersfield Town have certainly shown improvement under the guidance of Danny Cowley, with the former Lincoln City boss steering the Terriers clear of the relegation zone in recent weeks.
Huddersfield were hugely disappointing in the early stages of this year’s league campaign, which resulted in them parting company with Jan Siewert in August.
But since Cowley was appointed, the Terriers have gone from strength to strength, and will be hoping to fire themselves up the Championship table at the earliest of opportunities.
They take on Birmingham City this weekend, in a game where they’ll be hoping to come away with another three points in their first match after the international break.
Who will come out on top this weekend?
In a recent interview with the club’s official website, Cowley isn’t taking anything for granted heading into the game against Pep Clotet’s side, and was full of praise for this weekend’s opponents.
“We’ve already had a good opportunity to look at Birmingham. We’ve got some more games to watch. We know they’re a good team in a good moment.
“They have the opportunity to go quickly into the front, but also have technical players to allow them to have control and rhythm in games, so we know they’ll bring a really challenge and we are looking forward to that.”
Birmingham currently sit 13th in the Championship, and will be looking to get back to winning ways after back-t0-back defeats to Cardiff City and Fulham before the international set of fixtures.
It’s going to be a tough test for Cowley’s side this weekend.
Birmingham are a good side if they get going, and it’s good to see Cowley acknowledging the threat that the Blues will pose on Saturday.
I still don’t think Pep Clotet has quite got the best out of this current group of players at Birmingham, but he’ll be hoping he can come away from the game with a positive result to show for their efforts.
