Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley has backed his winger Adam Diakhaby, despite admitting he can't always get the best from him for 90 minutes.

The Terriers got another decent result under their belts with a 2-2 draw at Blackburn yesterday, and speaking to the Examiner following the result, Cowley backed his speedy winger.

"It looks really easy but, let me tell you, when you are running that fast, to execute technically and to make good decisions is much, much harder than for players who may be run at half of his speed. We always have to be respectful of that and, also, it takes a huge amount of energy to have those high-intensity, long sprints that Adama does," Cowley said.

Diakhaby put in another excellent showing in the main at Ewood Park and is seemingly flourishing under the guidance of Cowley, with the Terriers manager further explaining his comments on his man.

"He is not going to be in the game the whole 90 minutes. We would love him to be, but find me a winger in world football that's in the game for 90 minutes. They sometimes play on the edge and play on the periphery, but he is a real threat for us," Cowley added.

Huddersfield's form has picked up something ever since Cowley took the job alongside his brother, with the pair making the move from Lincoln City to West Yorkshire.

Diakhaby has become integral to the first XI under Cowley and the Huddersfield manager will be looking to ensure his man begins to add goals and consistency to his game as the season progresses.

The Verdict

Diakhaby has been excellent but once again, Cowley makes an excellent and observed point.

Wingers are there to be a threat and conjure up magic to win games. Diakhaby is exactly in that mould of player.

He's quality when he gets going and if Huddersfield are to have any success this term, then you'd imagine that Diakhaby is going to be integral to proceedings.
