Daniel Udoh to Millwall: What do we know so far? Is it likely to happen?

Published

Shrewsbury Town are down towards the bottom of Sky Bet League Two, but that hasn’t stopped one man from really impressing for the Shrews in 2021/22.

That’s striker Daniel Udoh, who has bagged an impressive 16 goals in all competitions this season.

One of those came at Anfield against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round.

Udoh has impressed so much to the extent that he has now put himself on the radar of clubs in the higher divisions, with Millwall the latest club to be mentioned alongside the 25-year-old’s name.

What do we know so far?

According to Football Insider, Millwall have their eyes set on Udoh ahead of the summer, with their recruitment team keeping close tabs on him as the season closes.

It is reported by Football Insider that Millwall recently sent a talent spotter to go and watch Shrewsbury Town’s recent clash against Ipswich Town to assess Udoh in person.

Gary Rowett is said to be looking to bolster his forward options ahead of the summer, and the pace and mobility Udoh possesses is said to fit the profile of the man Rowett wants up top for the Lions.

Is a transfer likely to happen?

With Udoh only contracted at Shrewsbury Town until 2023, if there is interest in the striker this summer, the club will either have to sell or risk losing him for free the following year.

THE CLUB WERE FOUNDED HIGHER OR LOWER THAN 125 YEARS AGO?

In terms of fit for Millwall, it is certainly an area they will be looking at this summer.

Benik Afobe is only on loan at the Den, and even though there has been speculation that he could return permanently this summer, he hasn’t been the most prolific in terms of goals this season.

We’ve seen plenty of players jump from League One to the Championship and do well in the past too, so there is no reason for Millwall to be put off by the fact he hasn’t played at Championship level before.

All things considered then, it’s early stages, but this could be a move that makes sense for both sides.

Millwall would be getting a pacey, mobile, striker that is capable of finding the back of the net, whilst Udoh would get to test himself at the highest level of his career, yet.

Let’s see what happens with this one in the summer.
