Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel has sent a message to the club's fans on social media, after he was named as League One Manager of the Year.

The Barnsley head coach

Barnsley dominated the EFL League One Team of the Season, with goalkeeper Adam Davies, centre-back Ethan Pinnock and midfielders Alex Mowatt and Cameron McGeehan all named in the XI, with Stendel as the manager.

That reflects just how highly they are rated by their rivals, as these awards were voted for by the managers.

Stendel congratulated the Barnsley players who were named in the team of the season and said that the team could not have asked for better support from the fans.

Barnsley are currently third in the League One table, one point behind second-placed Sunderland in the race for automatic promotion, but Jack Ross' side have a game in hand.

The Verdict

It is a great achievement for Stendel to be named manager of the season in his first season in English football and he deserves great credit for what he has been able to achieve with Barnsley so far this campaign.

The German has proved extremely popular with Barnsley fans since arriving at Oakwell in the summer and you can understand why.

The challenge now will be for the Tykes to secure an instant return back to the Championship in the coming month, whether it's automatically or through the play-offs.
