Swansea City winger Daniel James is not keen on signing a new deal despite the Welsh side poised to offer him a new contract.

The BBC revealed that the Swans want to tie down the 21-year-old who is in the final 18 months of his current deal.

However, the Mirror are reporting that the speedy winger is in no rush to agree a deal as he looks to consider his options in the summer.

James was controversially denied a late January move to Leeds United, with Swansea refusing to complete the deal, instead allowing the deadline to pass.

That is believed to have angered the player, who was keen on returning to Yorkshire and playing for the high-flying Whites.

The report adds that Leeds will be keen on signing the player once again when the window opens, although James is thought to want a top-flight move where he could get regular football.

He was in the news over the weekend after a magnificent solo goal helped the Swans overcome Brentford in the FA Cup, which has set up a fixture against Manchester City in the quarter-final.

The Verdict

This isn't really a surprise and you would expect Swansea to cash in on James this summer.

He will have understandably been annoyed at how things played out in January and he will have plenty of offers on the table this summer as his ability is clear.

Whether it's Leeds, or somewhere else, the youngster is going to be in-demand and it would make very little sense to sign a new deal when you think about the offers that will be coming his way.
