A dismal year littered with a countless number of disappointing performances saw Rotherham United finish bottom of the Championship pile, and relegated to the third tier of English football.

Not many positives can be drawn from the relegation campaign, but one man to provide Millers fans with some joy was striker Danny Ward.

The former Huddersfield Town forward smashed 12 goals across the course of the campaign, which represents a decent haul in a team that struggled all season.

Rotherham recently activated a clause in the player’s contract which extended Ward’s stay for another year, but the impressive forward is still expected to depart the south Yorkshire side this summer.

In January, caretaker manager Paul Warne placed a £5 million price tag on the player’s head, and a fee within the same region will be demanded once again this summer.

One club with the resources and need to finance such a deal are Norwich City, who endured a disappointing campaign themselves.

Finishing outside the playoff spots, the Premier League hopefuls will look to launch a bid for the top flight under new manager Daniel Farke.

Ward could be the man the German boss turns to this summer to fire his side back to the Premier League, and the striker would undoubtedly score goals when utilised alongside Norwich’s talented attacking talents.

£5 million may seem steep for a player who is set to ply his trade in League One, but that is the price of goals in the current market.

Farke will look to get his business done early this summer, and Ward could be the first new face to enter Carrow Road this offseason.
