Norwich City boss Daniel Farke still believes the Canaries are 'outsiders' for promotion even though they currently lead the way in the Championship.

His side will drop down to second if Leeds win at QPR tonight but they are still one of the favourites to secure promotion and have been playing some superb football this season.

However, few would've envisaged this at the start of the campaign, when Farke had to contend with losing the highly influential James Maddison.

Yet, smart recruitment and a clear way of playing has paid off and Norwich are in a fantastic position.

Despite that, Farke told German media outlet Sport that whilst his side will give their all, they shouldn't be considered favourites when assessing their chances: "Outsiders. But it is clear: We are greedy and want to reach the maximum.

"The promotion to the Premier League would be a sensation."

After a fine comeback win against Bristol City last time out, Farke's men take on struggling Millwall this weekend in a game they will be expected to win.

The Verdict

This is just clever management from Farke who doesn't want to put additional pressure on his players at this stage of the season.

Very few people expected Norwich to be in this position now, so you can understand why Farke is playing it down.

But, they are in the automatic promotion places as we head into March and are playing extremely well, so whether the manager wants to admit it or not, many will now expect a top two finish.
