Norwich City's place in the Premier League for next season has been put on ice for what now seems an eternity.

Daniel Farke's men have led the way in the Sky Bet Championship for months, and are arguably one of the best footballing sides the division has seen for many a year.

The Canaries have took the league by storm this year - the Norfolk club have shown so much character and fight to grind out last-gasp wins, as well as impressive victories away from home against Leeds United.

City have all but confirmed their place in the top-flight next term, and they had the opportunity to do so on Saturday afternoon against Stoke City. But, despite being held to a 2-2 draw against the Potters, Leeds United failed to gain ground after losing 2-0 to Brentford.

Norwich have been expected to win promotion to the top-flight for months now - it has almost become an assumption for many.

But plenty have also expected them to go on to win the league title, and there would be a somewhat sense of disappointment amongst the Carrow Road faithful if they weren't to be crowned champions come the end of the season, after what has been a dominant campaign thus far.

But, after failing to pick up a win in their last four league games, their once inevitable title chances look to be dwindling ever so slightly.

After Sheffield United eased past Hull City by three goals to nil at the weekend, the Blades now find themselves sitting three points off the Canaries, with Chris Wilder's men steamrolling towards the Premier League.

And it genuinely wouldn't surprise many if the Blades went onto to finish at the top of the Championship, given their recent form compared to Norwich's ahead of a home clash with already relegated Ipswich Town next weekend.

Of course, promotion to the top-flight is all that matters for both teams, and Norwich look set to achieve just that.

But you get the feeling that, if they didn't win the league this term, then it would take the gloss of what has been a simply remarkable campaign.
