Barnsley assistant first team coach Dale Tonge has revealed that the club are still in the market for a couple of experienced players, after speaking to BBC Sheffield's Andy Giddings.

The Tykes have been extremely active in the summer transfer window thus far, with 10 new signings putting pen to paper at Oakwell as Daniel Stendel's side look to cement their place in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

The likes of Conor Chaplin, Luke Thomas, Aapo Halme and Mallik Wilks, all very talented younger players, have joined the Tykes after leaving Coventry City, Derby County and Leeds United respectively.

But Barnsley assistant first team coach Tonge has admitted that the club are still in the market for new players, with a couple of experienced players supposedly on the club's radar.

Barnsley have recruited well after losing several key players over the course of the summer, most notably Liam Lindsay and Ethan Pinnock who have moved on and signed for Stoke City and Brentford respectively.

Elsewhere, Tonge confirmed that the club have received no new interest in striker Kieffer Moore, which is a massive piece of news for Barnsley fans.

The Tykes kick off the brand new season at home to promotion contenders Fulham, who have spent big this summer.

The Verdict

I have been really impressed with Barnsley's tramsfer business, and I think Stendel deserves a lot of credit for his bold transfer approach

Replacing the likes of Lindsay and Pinnock with Halme, for instance, is a brave call given that the latter only played five times for Leeds' first-team last season.

I think that they would be absolutely right to sign some experienced players - they have signed plenty of upcoming talents, and signing a couple of players that have been there and done it would be beneficial.
