Crystal Palace are reportedly weighing up a January move for in-demand Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz amid links to Everton, Fulham, Leeds United, and a number of European clubs.

No player has scored more Championship goals than the Chile international this term – with his eight goals and one assist helping Rovers climb into the top two after 16 games.

Reports yesterday indicated that Sevilla were leading Everton, Fulham and Leeds in the race for Brereton Diaz but it seems they face more Premier League competition.

The Sun has reported that Palace are now considering a January move for the forward, whose contract is set to expire next summer.

Blackburn are said to still be attempting to agree new terms with the 23-year-old but have been knocked back on each occasion, which has put the teams interested on alert.

The report claims that Palace are weighing up a bid for Brereton Diaz in the winter window as they look to beat off interest from England and, particularly, abroad.

It is understood that talks have been held with multiple La Liga clubs about a potential pre-contract, which foreign sides will be able to offer the Blackburn man from the 1st of January.

The Verdict

We are still a little way out from the January transfer window but the pursuit of Brereton Diaz appears to be hotting up again.

That's no surprise given his strong start to the season and Rovers' unsuccessful attempts to get him to extend his contract.

It looks as though they may not be able to keep hold of him this time but should get a chance to cash in as English clubs are unable to offer him a pre-contract and risk missing out if they wait for the summer.

Palace have a good record signing EFL talent and could be a good fit for the 23-year-old.

They play a front three and though the Blackburn forward would be competing with talisman Wilfried Zaha for his preferred position on the left, he could be a useful cover option with a view to replacing him long-term or perhaps being used centrally.
