Crystal Palace plotting deal for 24-year-old Watford player

Emmanuel Dennis could be a man in-demand during this offseason after an impressive Premier League campaign – and it looks like Crystal Palace are the latest side to consider a deal for him, as reported by London World.

The forward has been solid for the Hornets since his switch to Watford last summer, with the striker bagging plenty of goals even though his side eventually suffered relegation down to the Championship. Dennis managed a haul of 10 goals and six assists in just 33 league outings and he certainly caught the eye along the way.

A division lower and the player could plunder an even more impressive haul. However, he might not get the opportunity to with some of the bigger boys in England now plotting moves for his services.

West Ham have been heavily linked but Crystal Palace are now also keeping tabs on the situation and could launch a bid for his services before the summer is out. The Eagles want to continue to push on and adding the goals of Dennis to their squad could really help them do that as they potentially eye a tilt towards a European spot.

Palace do have other striking targets according to this report, so may have to weigh up which forward they would like to plump for when it comes down to it. However, Dennis certainly appears to be on their radar and with Watford now in the Championship, they may be resigned to losing the player now during the transfer window.

The Verdict

Emmanuel Dennis may have only had one season in the Premier League so far but he quite clearly has the capabilities to produce the goods in the top flight if you play to his strengths.

In a below par Watford team for example that ended up relegated, he managed a double digit goals tally. It makes you question just how many goals he could manage in a stronger team where chances are created much more frequently and he is able to get on the front foot more often.

Crystal Palace and West Ham could both offer him that chance and it certainly appears as though his future is in the Premier League. If he is kept in the Championship next season, then he could really be one of the best forwards in the division and would be a big asset for Watford.

That doesn’t look likely though and it would be a real surprise if he does stay in the second tier. There is plenty of interest in him and it looks like that interest will only continue to mount – and a deal looks likely.
