Crystal Palace planning double summer raid on Championship club

Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is plotting to bring Jonjo Shelvey and Tim Krul to Crystal Palace, according to The Shields Gazette.

Although Jonjo Shelvey has only been at the club since January, it is looking likely that he will leave Newcastle United this summer with Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace reportedly interested.

It is looking unlikely that Shelvey will be part of Rafa Benitez’s plans for next season particularly, as Benitez has shown interest in Leeds United’s Lewis Cook and Derby County’s Will Hughes as potential replacements for Shelvey.

The 24-year-old is reportedly interested in a return to the Premier League and a move to Crystal Palace could facilitate that. As Shelvey was born and bred in London, he may be tempted by a return back to the capital.

As well as Jonjo Shelvey, Alan Pardew is reportedly keen on reuniting with Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul. Like Shelvey, Tim Krul’s future appears to be mired in uncertainty.

Alan Pardew may be hoping to strengthen Crystal Palace’s goalkeeping position and provide Wayne Hennessey with stronger competition.

Newcastle fans, how do you feel about the news? Would you be disappointed to see Shelvey or Krul leave? How much do you think they are worth? Who would you like to see come in to replace them if they were to leave? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
