Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have decided to keep winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan at Charlton Athletic for the remainder of the 2022-23 season despite strong interest from other clubs in his signature, according to London News Online.

The 20-year-old arrived at The Valley from the Eagles back in August and has netted seven times in League One for the Addicks in 24 appearances, as well as notching three assists in that time.

Rak-Sakyi's promising form saw him attract interest ahead of the January transfer window, with Championship duo Millwall and Hull City among the clubs keen on him, according to Alan Nixon.

They were joined by Charlton's divisional rivals, including Ipswich Town, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, and more recently Coventry City reportedly joined the race for his services.

However, the decision by the top brass at Selhurst Park is for Rak-Sakyi to stay put at Charlton and under their new head coach Dean Holden until the end of the current campaign, in what is a big boost for the Addicks and a blow to his other suitors.

The Verdict

Despite Charlton not having the best of seasons right now, Rak-Sakyi has been one of the bright sparks on the attacking end of things.

Having already featured in the Premier League for Palace, he is quite clearly highly-rated and he will be learning a lot about himself and also developing at The Valley.

Switching him to another club mid-season though may not work out and it is better for the winger to have a consistent season under his belt with one club.

Perhaps next season will be the moment for Rak-Sakyi to step up to the Championship, but now the aim will be to get Charlton as high as they can in the table and perhaps hit double figures for goals this season.
