Premier League side Crystal Palace are interested in signing 20-year-old Reading defender Jake Cooper, according to South London Press.

The young centre back has seamlessly become a part of the first team at the Madejski stadium and has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs, with Stoke and West Ham also keen - but it seems that Crystal Palace are leading the pack.

The youngster has represented England at youth level, and has recently signed a new deal with Reading, extending his contract until October 2018.

He has made 11 appearances this season, scoring once against Sheffield Wednesday and has been part of a backline that have conceded 31 goals.

Palace have been fairly solid at the back this season with Scott Dann in excellent form, but they seem interested in investing in their future and a deadline day swoop for Cooper could materialise.

But with Reading still harbouring play-off aspirations, last minute departures would be less than ideal for them.
