Crystal Palace are interested in signing on-loan West Brom winger Oliver Burke, according to The Daily Record.

The 21-year-old joined Celtic on loan in January and has thrived with the Scottish Premiership leaders, scoring four goals in 14 appearances for the Glasgow club.

This came after Burke failed to impress at West Brom following his £14 million switch from RB Leipzig in 2017.

There were high hopes when the Nottingham Forest youth product arrived at the Hawthorns, but he failed to establish himself last season and managed just three Championship appearances this campaign before his Scottish switch.

It was thought the winger could seal a permanent deal at Parkhead, but he is now being touted for a Premier League move with Dougie Freedman keen on an agreement for the attacker. Freedman, who is Palace's director of football, worked with Burke during his time as Forest manager so is well aware of his qualities.

Freedman previously attempted to lure Burke to Palace before his West Brom move and they now appear to be front-runners for his signature, with Celtic unlikely to match the Eagles' offer.

The verdict

At Parkhead, Burke has re-discovered the form that earned him wide plaudits when he was breaking through at Forest.

After disappointing stints at RB Leipzig and West Brom, he will now be looking to settle at a club where he can get his career back on track.

It is likely he would be guaranteed more playing time at Celtic, but Palace would be a great location for him to progress his career. He is still very young so could well go on to become a key figure at Selhurst Park.
