Crystal Palace have confirmed that defender Ryan Inniss has left the club to join League Two side, Newport County on loan for the season.

Inniss spent last year's campaign on loan with Scottish side, Dundee, where he made 13 appearances in total as they were relegated from the top-flight.

He also made his debut for Crystal Palace last season, in a win over Swansea City in the Carabao Cup, before heading out on loan.

At the age of 24, some might not see a future at Selhurst Park for Inniss, but the club will be hoping that he can put in some impressive showings out on loan this term.

Newport narrowly missed out on promotion to League One last season, as they were beaten by Tranmere Rovers in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.

So ,Inniss will be hoping that he can play his part in helping Michael Flynn's side go one better this season and win promotion into the third tier of English football.

It remains to be seen as to whether Inniss will be involved on Saturday for his new team, but he'll be keeping a close eye on how they get on against Crewe Alexandra at Rodney Parade.

The Verdict:

This is the best move for both parties involved.

It's highly unlikely that Inniss will have been able to force his way into the Crystal Palace first-team this season, so it's a smart move by the club to loan him out.

His development will be better served out on loan, and if he can make a good impression with Newport County this season, then he could play his way into Roy Hodgson's plans for the future.
