Crystal Palace and West Ham United have both made checks on Bristol City youngster Alex Scott recently ahead of potential summer approaches for the teenager, according to The Sun.

However, the same report has stated that the Robins have slapped a £20m price tag on him - a figure that may need to be matched if any interested side is keen on striking a deal for the 19-year-old.

And it's even believed the Eagles and Palace are unlikely to be willing to offer anywhere near that amount of money, a boost for the Robins in their potential quest to keep hold of him for the long term.

However, they may find it increasingly difficult to hold on to him as time goes on, with the player yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

But the Robins are still in a strong position at the negotiating table at this stage, with the midfielder's deal at Ashton Gate not expiring until the summer of 2025, a factor that has allowed them to take a firm stance on him.

That has come in handy for Nigel Pearson's men considering the interest there has been in him, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur still believed to be keeping an eye on him at this point.

The Verdict:

Considering there's every chance he will become an England international in the future, he's certainly worth that price tag and that's why it wouldn't be a surprise to see a team fork out that much for him.

However, a switch to a lower-end top-tier team may be the best potential move for him at this point because that should maximise his time on the pitch, something that will enable him to develop.

The valuation of players is only likely to increase following the Covid-19 pandemic, with clubs' financial situations now likely to improve now that supporters are allowed back in the stadium.

Not only are supporters generating money with ticket sales - but also in terms of merchandise and refreshments - something that can only help to boost the budgets of other teams.

In terms of Scott, a move to both Palace and West Ham could be attractive, with the former utilising the EFL market quite a bit since Patrick Vieira took over and the latter plying their trade in a European competition not so long ago.
