Sheffield Wednesday’s Gary Hooper has been dealt a blow with news emerging that he is facing 10 weeks on the sidelines following surgery.

The Sheffield Star have confirmed that Hooper is set for another long spell out, with injuries plaguing the forward’s involvement over the course of the last year.

His last appearance came in late 2017, with Jos Luhukay unable to call on Hooper yet.

Just how much of a blow is this latest setback for the mid-table Owls?

We discuss…

Chris Gallagher

It's a big blow.

The forward scores goals when he's fit as he's proved over the years.

Given their struggles up top, he would walk straight into the team, and that coolness in front of goal has been badly missed.

Now it's down to the others to step up and deliver consistently in his absence.

Alfie Burns

It's crushing for Sheffield Wednesday.

For me, it spells the end of Wednesday’s play-off hopes.

Hooper has been sorely missed over the last 10 months and Luhukay could do with him back firing to boost Wednesday’s push for the top-six.

However, Wednesday will continue to lose ground without their best forward.

Sam Rourke

You've got to feel so sorry for Hooper.

He's been plagued with injuries over the last few seasons, and he'll be desperate to get back on the pitch.

We all know how good he can be in the second tier on his day, so this'll be a really frustrating blow to Sheffield Wednesday and Jos Luhukay.
