Leeds United have met all expectations of them challenging for promotion this campaign, as the Yorkshire outfit have maintained a play-off spot for most of the 2016/17 season, even with an important run-in to consider.

A consistent back line has been the key for Garry Monk's team this year as the manager has made very few changes in the defence, only for suspensions, injuries or the odd switch.

The side may even still struggle to go up to the top-flight with a top-six finish almost solidified, as the ever-tough play-offs have to be surpassed in order to reach the promised land.

It is vital for Leeds to continue scoring the goals but it is just as, if not, more to keep them hitting the net at the other end. They have conceded 35 goals, as of writing this, in the Championship this season which is third-most in the teams making up the top-six.

Here are TWO players that Leeds United need to play and keep fit between now and the end of the campaign......

Luke Ayling

The 25 year-old versatile defender has played in almost every match for his side since joining from Bristol City last summer, with 35 appearances for Leeds this campaign.

Luke Ayling can play at centre-half or right-back and that has been crucial for the former Premier League team to be in the position that they find themselves in, just one of the many consistent players in the first-team at Elland Road.

He has to stay injury and suspension free for his side to stay where they are; a few key encounters are coming up, and if they want to keep clean sheets then Ayling has to be in that starting line-up as often as possible.

Pontus Jansson

There is no question as to why this man makes this article.

Pontus Jansson originally signed on loan at the club but that deal was made a permanent one in January and his string of fine performances has made him a sure fan favourite at Elland Road.

The 26-year-old has made match-saving tackles and blocks, alongside his crucial goals.

Jansson will undoubtedly need to be kept fit as Leeds need his services between now and the end of the campaign.
