It's safe to say that Birmingham City have endured an eventful summer, which is far from ideal preparation for the new season.

Garry Monk has left the club with Pep Clotet being appointed as his successor, a move which wasn't welcomed by the majority of the club's supporters.

Che Adams also departed in favour of a move to Southampton, with the striker leaving a sizeable void in the Birmingham front line.

Previewing their upcoming campaign: Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit, Jack Blenkiron.

What are your thoughts on Birmingham's transfer business this summer?

"Our transfer window couldn’t have started more mediocre; losing Garry Monk, Che Adams to Southampton and the departure of Jota, to Villa, and captain, Michael Morrison, who was unable to agree terms to a new contract, with only Gary Gardner arriving through the door.

"However, the promising arrivals of Dan Crowley, at a bargain of £700,000, and the loan capture of England U21 captain, Jake Clarke-Salter, have somewhat softened the blow.

"The potential arrival of Croatia U21 captain, Ivan Sunjic which would become the club’s record transfer, surpassing the aforementioned Jota, is increasing the hopes for the upcoming season."

Which team do you expect to do well this season?

"A team I expect to perform this season is Brentford, the purchases of Pontus Jansson, arguably one of the best defenders in the league, not to mention for a fee of less than six million pounds, will inevitably strengthen the Bees' defence, alongside the acquisitions of David Raya and Ethan Pinnock.

"The midfield duo of Mathias Jensen and Christian Norgaard are coups for the club, and will ensure that Brentford are definitely up there this season, despite the departures of Ezri Konsa to Aston Villa, Yoann Barbet and Dan Bentley."

Which players should we be keeping an eye out for in Clotet's squad?

"A player to look out for this season is Dan Crowley, albeit biased.

"The attacking midfielder possesses bags of potential, which enticed Arsenal to sign him only five years ago, and despite that potential being unfulfilled as of now, this season is the time for Crowley to show everybody what he’s capable of.

"He’s looked strong in preseason, and looks to suit the style of play that Pep wants, Crowley is definitely one to watch this season."

Where are you expecting Birmingham to finish in the Championship table?

"If I was asked how I’d expect Blues to do this season last month, I’d have said it would be a miracle to stay up, yet a number of clever signings and a promising preseason have led me to believe that this team is capable of replicating last season’s heroics, prior to the points deduction, and if not even better."

Are there any youngsters that you expect to see pushing for a first-team spot next season?

"A youngster I expect to be challenging for a first-team spot is Steve Seddon, the 21-year-old attacking left wing-back has struggled for first-team minutes as of now.

"Yet a fantastic loan spell with AFC Wimbledon in the second-half of the last season, where he scored six goals in eighteen games, has led me to think that he’s capable of taking that left-back position at Blues."
