Sky Bet League One side Crewe Alexandra are targeting a summer move for goalkeeper Scott Shearer following his release from Rotherham according to The Sentinel.
The goalkeeper joined Rotherham in the summer of 2012 from Crawley Town and was able to hold his first-team position for various periods of time.
During his stay with the newly promoted Championship outfit he made 34 appearances in all competitions and has been released by the club.
However, it seems that a stay in League One is on the cards as Crewe are after his signature and are preparing to make the Scottish keeper their replacement for Steve Phillips who took up a coaching role at Liverpool.
It is not understood as to the duration of his potential contract but it is thought that the 33-year old will initially sign on a one-year deal with an option to extend his stay at the club at the end of the season.
