Rotherham have announced the season-long loan signing of Dan Barlaser, who has joined from Newcastle United.

The midfielder will join the Millers as they try to bounce back from League One into the Championship - and lots of Rotherham fans are delighted with the news.

The 22-year-old has previously played on loan at Accrington Stanley, where he was a key player for the side in their 14th place finish. He played 45 games for Stanley scoring three times but has yet to play for Newcastle.

This is the club's fifth signing of the summer. Barlaser will be at the club until the end of the 2019/2020 season.

He also has time with Crewe Alexandra on his CV, alongside experience in the youth setups with England and Turkey.

Speaking to the club website he said: "This team wants to push for promotion this season and having that on my CV would be great for my development."

Many fans were delighted with the signing, with some being particularly happy they got the player when there was believed Championship interest.

One fan said: "Beaten Championship clubs to a signing once again. Astute signing this one," while another said similar in "our top target, could have gone to a bigger club but Warney put in some graft to get him there."
