Salford City have confirmed the signing of striker Tom Elliott from Millwall with the 29-year-old signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

Despite making 67 appearance for Millwall, the 29-year-old had failed to impress this term and had not been named once in the Lions' match day squad under Neil Harris or Gary Rowett.

The striker boasts 97 League Two appearances and 15 goals in the division and will add some experience to Graham Alexander's side.

Elliott becomes Salford's first permanent signing of the window after Ash Hunter joined on loan from Fleetwood Town earlier this month.

The club announced their latest signing via their Twitter account on Thursday evening, prompting responses from both Salford fans and fans of Elliott's previous clubs.

The news was greeted with many replies wishing the player well, as well as some fans predicting he will do really well in League Two.
