Bristol City were the 3-2 winners over Derby County at Ashton Gate last night in a game that was end-to-end for most of the encounter.

Robins centre-back Filip Benkovic was in the right place at the right time to net a header at the back post after Famara Diedhiou had his own cleared off the line from a Niclas Eliasson corner.

Having signed on deadline day in a loan move from Leicester City, the young defender put in an accomplished performance at the heart of the defence alongside Ashley Williams as he kept the likes of Martyn Waghorn and Chris Martin quiet for the majority of the game.

Benkovic would have been feeling the pressure ahead of kick-off as he replaced Nathan Baker, who had put in some commanding displays of late.

Benkovic impressed supporters with his all-round performance at the back and they were clearly delighted to see him strike at the other end of the pitch.
