The business that Blackburn Rovers manage to do in the January transfer window might shape the way the rest of the season goes.

They are currently stuck in a relegation battle but their last two results (1-0 victory away at Newcastle and a 1-1 draw with high flying Huddersfield) have convinced the fans that they have what it takes to survive in this league.

It has been a slow process but Owen Coyle is gradually beginning to turn things around at Ewood Park and they now sit one point and one place outside the relegation zone in the second tier.

Coyle will need to be asking the board to back him in January so he can bring the right profile of player to the club to ensure they have the best chance of staying up.

Here are three players who Owen Coyle should be begging the board to bring to Ewood Park in January.

Jordon Mutch

To stay in the Championship, Blackburn will need players who know the division well.

Jordon Mutch is an experienced campaigner at this level and his influence would be very helpful.

The former QPR, Birmingham and Cardiff man is out of favour at Crystal Palace and would probably be open to a January move to the second tier.

Tyias Browning

Tyias Browning needs to leave Everton because he's never going to cut it in their first team.

But the 22-year-old could be a vital addition to Blackburn's defence, which has been shaky and prone to injury.

Browning is strong, quick and versatile at the back which would make him a vital asset for Rovers.

Jordan Rhodes

With Sam Gallagher, Anthony Stokes and Danny Graham, Blackburn are actually quite well equipped in the striker department.

But a swoop for former star Jordan Rhodes would almost ensure their safety.

The Scotsman scores goals for fun in the Championship and had a very successful spell at Ewood Park before moving to Middlesbrough last January.
