Coventry City are waiting until the weekend to find out if Toumani Diagouraga will sign for the club, according to the Coventry Telegraph.

Diagouraga is wanted by Leeds United and Rangers
Diagouraga has a decision to make on his future.

The French midfielder is currently on Brentford's pre-season tour of the United States where he is hoping to impress Bees manager Mark Warburton. A key player for Brentford over the past couple of seasons, Diagouraga fell out of favour after the appointment of Warburton in December.

The 27 year-old was sent out on loan to Portsmouth towards to the end of last season before being recalled to Griffin Park as the Bees won promotion to the Championship. With Brentford adding Spanish midfielder Marcos Tebar to their squad, it remains to be seen whether the former Peterborough midfielder remains part of Warburton's plans for the forthcoming league season.

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has expressed his interest in the powerful central-midfielder. The Frenchman impressed during Brentford's clash with Coventry at Sixfields back in September. The Scot views Diagouraga as a player who will add physicality and experience to a young Coventry City side.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Coventry City's Development Director Steve Waggott revealed: “I have had discussions with Brentford and there will be a decision when the lad comes back. I have spoken to his agent and, obviously, if he’s involved at Championship level then the player will most likely prefer to stay at Brentford.

“If not then I think there is a great possibility that we could try to do something with Brentford and the player to try to bring him in. But he’s one of the targets on Steven’s list and he’d love to get him.”

Should Diagouraga chose not to sign for the Sky Blues, Steven Pressley is considering former loanee David Prutton or ex-Coventry City captain John Eustace as options.

Eustace featured for Derby in a recent pre-season friendly against Coventry's neighbours Nuneaton Town. The veteran midfielder revealed to the Coventry Telegraph that he would love to end his career at the club he came through at: “When the time comes I'd love to end my career at Coventry. It would be nice to go full circle and finish where I started off.”
