Liam Walsh has been one of the star performers for Coventry City this season, with his majestic displays from central midfield tearing other midfields apart.

The midfielder is currently on loan with the Sky Blues from Championship side Bristol City for the season, despite there being a recall clause in the loan contract for January.

And just last week, Bristol City assistant coach Dean Holden admitted that Walsh's form while out on loan could be enough to put him in contention for a spot with the Robins first team for the second half of the season.

This would be the wrong choice from Bristol City if they was to decide to recall Walsh, as the club already has a lot of quality in midfield and the midfielder could struggle to break into the side.

His technical ability is similar to Brownhill's, where he is able to beat a man in the centre of the park as well as get forward and net the odd goal, with the 22-year-old's passing range also being something that can be admired.

Despite being one of the smaller players on the pitch when he crosses over that white line on gamedays, Walsh can be aggressive in the tackle as well as tenacious and his work rate is phenomenal when a manager backs him.

Coventry manager Mark Robins has done exactly that by playing him every week, and Walsh is beginning to show just what he can do in senior football as Bristol City continue to keep tabs on the midfielder.

Having joined Bristol City in 2018 from Everton, he ha struggled to make the breakthrough at Ashton Gate and Johnson is now attempting to speed along the player's development by taking him off of City's bench and putting him into Coventry's first team.

Walsh won't want to be recalled by his parent club as he is currently performing well for the Sky Blues and he is playing football with a smile on his face, as well as his development coming along nicely as he has adapted to the physicality well.

If Bristol City choose to keep Walsh out on loan with Coventry for the rest of the season, then more consistent performances and developing certain parts of his game with the more senior football that he gets could mean that he will be ready for Championship football next season.

Walsh definitely has the potential to play regularly at Ashton Gate, but he will need to continue his good form at Coventry to justify a chance being handed to them there next season.
