Coventry City are set to add to their ranks at right-wing-back with the signing of Queens Park Rangers outcast Todd Kane, per West London Sport.
The 27-year-old is out of favour at Loftus Road under Mark Warburton despite playing 28 Championship games in the 2020-21 season, which stemmed from the former Chelsea man insisting in an interview that he was a better player than team-mate and fellow wing-back Osman Kakay.
Kane featured just once following those comments and it was made clear that he was no longer a part of plans at the Hoops for the 2021-22 campaign, with Moses Odubajo taking his place.
The R's have been looking to offload Kane all summer and it looks as though the Sky Blues will be taking him off their hands.
Mark Robins has both Julien Da Costa and Fankaty Dabo to call upon at right-wing-back in his system, however the latter has also featured on the right side of a back three so far to start the season and judging by this latest development with Kane he could be set to stay there.
The Verdict
Regardless as to why his time at QPR has ended, Todd Kane is definitely a decent signing for Coventry when it's all said and done.
He brings a lot of Championship experience to the table and most importantly he can attack from that wing-back area.
Kane isn't shy in-front of goal either and along with Ian Maatsen on the other flank he will be bombing down the wing to try and make things happen, and at 27 he's still at a good age where he has a number of years to make an impact.
Things have obviously reached the end of the line in west London for Kane but a fresh start in the Midlands could do him good and there's no reason why a solid Championship standard player like him can't do a decent job for the Sky Blues.
