Coventry City take former Leeds United striker on trial

According to the Coventry Telegraph, Luciano Becchio is on trial with Coventry City in a bid to earn himself a contract with the club.

The 32-year-old striker was the unnamed trialist in Coventry’s under-23 clash with Huddersfield on Monday afternoon, with Tony Mowbray weighing up whether to offer the striker a contract.

Luciano Becchio started his career in the Spanish leagues but rose to prominence in England with his spell at Leeds United.

He played almost 200 league games for Leeds in a five year spell, scoring 76 goals in the process.

He subsequently had a dire spell with Norwich, then moved back to Argentina with Belgrano before moving to Rotherham last January.

The Argentine reportedly had an unsuccessful trial with Bristol City and is now looking to earn himself a deal with the Sky Blues – who sit bottom of League One.

Mowbray is desperate to add attacking reinforcements after scoring just three league goals in eight matches.

Coventry fans – What do you think? Would Becchio be a good addition? Could he score the goals at this level? Is he the striker you are missing?

Rotherham, Norwich and Leeds fans – what can the Sky Blues expect from Becchio?
