According to HITC Sport, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has turned down the opportunity to become the next manager of Coventry City.

The Sky Blues were looking for a new manager after Coventry fans stepped up protests asking Mark Venus to leave his role as interim manager and find a replacement.

Coventry have been without a manager since Tony Mowbray resigned in September with Venus assuming the role of caretaker boss since then.

Venus sits on the board of directors and forms part of the panel responsible for bringing in a replacement.

Yesterday the Sun broke the news that Coventry were set to hold talks with former QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink over the role.

The Dutchman was sacked by QPR in November but previously had a successful spell as Burton Albion manager.

Hasselbaink is thought to have turned Coventry down with the West Midlands outfit struggling in the relegation zone in League One.
