Coventry City snap up highly-rated 22-year-old attacker – report

Coventry City have signed non-league sensation Reise Allassani, according to a reliable football journalist on Twitter.

Jack Pitt-Brooke – a journalist for The Independent – is reporting that Coventry have signed Allassani on a two-year deal with an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

The Sky Blues have already started their summer business just days after winning promotion to League One via the play-offs with four players released including Kyel Reid and a new deal for Michael Doyle.

Further to this, reports suggest that Mark Robins’ men will snap up Jonson Clarke-Harris on a free transfer following a successful loan stint.

Now Allassani looks set to follow Clarke-Harris and Zain Westbrooke through the door at Coventry this summer.

The 22-year-old is currently at Dulwich Hamlet, where he has been rebuilding his career following some serious injuries at Crystal Palace.

Having won promotion with Dulwich to the National League South this season, the non-league outfit knew that Allassani would move on.

The former England youth international netted 19 goals for Hamlet last season and that has not gone unnoticed as he resisted interest in January to remain at the club and take them up.

But Allassani is now set for a summer switch to Coventry and this has been confirmed by his social media activity.

The versatile forward, who plays as a number 10 and can also operate on the wing or up front, was present to watch Coventry win their play-off final.

The diminutive attacker has also followed Coventry winger Jodi Jones on Twitter and “liked” Coventry’s official account’s tweet celebrating the play-off victory.

The Verdict

This move could be seen as a gamble but if it pays off, Coventry have a top, top talent on their books this season.

At Dulwich, he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch and it was only a matter of time before a professional club took a punt on the youngster.

The Sky Blues have a young, quick forward with an eye for goal in their ranks and he will be hungry for success after working tirelessly to get back to this position.
