Coventry City have had a promising start to the season.

Currently sitting sixth in the League Two table, the aim for the former Premier League founders must surely be promotion back to League One as they aim to ascend back up the league system after years of being in a downward spiral.

Tomorrow's clash with Maidenhead United will give Mark Robins the chance to rest some of his squad and run the rule over some of his fringe players.

While first team stars like Jordan Willis, Michael Doyle, Jodi Jones and Duckens Nazon tend to take the plaudits most weeks, this is the chance for some of the peripheral players to stake their claim for a spot in the starting XI.

With a non-league opposition visiting the Ricoh Arena, Robins might experiment.

Here are three players who deserve a chance to shine in tomorrow's FA Cup meeting at home to Maidenhead United.

Liam O'Brien

Liam O'Brien arrived in the summer from Portsmouth and was handed the gloves at the start of the season.

However, a couple of error-prone displays cost him his place between the sticks and the impressive Lee Burge has cemented his place in goal ever since (despite making one costly error against Forest Green).

The 25-year-old should be handed a chance to prove some doubters wrong in this tie and he will be eager to impress.

Ben Stevenson

As Coventry City were relegated from League One last year, one of the standout performers was Ben Stevenson.

This year, the youngster has had to settle for a bit-part role due to the good displays in the middle by Liam Kelly and Michael Doyle.

The 20-year-old, who has previously been chased by Brentford, needs to show Robins that he is good enough to earn his starting spot back.

Jordan Ponticelli

Jordan Ponticelli is thought to be the next brightest prospect coming out of the Coventry academy.

The 19-year-old has been a substitute on several occasions this year but due to his prolific form in the youth teams, many City fans have called for him to become a starter.

They got their wish in the last league game and the teenage talent put in a good shift - he deserves another crack this weekend.
