Chris Camwell looks like he could sign a new deal for Coventry City rather than complete his expected move to the Premier League, according to recent local reports.

The Coventry Telegraph is reporting that Coventry's promising defender Chris Camwell is growing impatient with his stalling move to Stoke City and he could instead sign a new deal with the Sky Blues.

The teenage full back only made his debut for Coventry City on the final day of the League One season against Scunthorpe United but looked assured in that game and caught the attention of Stoke City.

The Potters were looking to poach the 18-year-old to add to their academy, having watched him in a few academy games.

Chris Camwell is out of contract at Coventry City but was offered professional terms.

However, Stoke were looking to swoop with a £250,000 move to sign him before the case would go to a tribunal over compensation money owed.

Stoke faced competition from a couple of Championship clubs too with Camwell yet to commit his future to his hometown club.

But the attack-minded left back is now leaning towards signing a new deal at Coventry as he wants to sort his future out before pre-season starts at the end of this month.

With Stoke yet to table a formal bid, the Coventry starlet could be about to pen professional terms and compete with Chris Stokes (and possibly Ryan Haynes) for the starting left back spot in League Two.
