The Sky Blues currently sit in the relegation zone in Sky Bet League One, and sit in 21st place having amassed 33 points from 31 league games.

Coventry have failed to win a single league game in their previous seven League One games, and are on course for a nervy finish to the 2014/15 campaign.

Pressley has ultimately failed to propel the club up the division this season and has now been sacked from the club.

Coventry City Chief executive Steve Waggott said to the club's official site: “This has been a very difficult decision from a personal and professional point of view, and we would like to place on record our thanks to Steven for his efforts over the last two years. “But results over recent weeks and months, and our precarious position in the league table, means that a change of direction at first team level is needed. “Neil MacFarlane and Dave Hockaday have been placed in temporary charge.”The Sky Blues drew their previous League One game 2-2 with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, after being 2-0 up.

A double from Reading loanee Dominic Samuel put Coventry ahead before Doyle and Jamie Murphy attained a draw for Nigel Clough's outfit.

Speaking after the game, Steven Pressley said to the BBC:

"For 75 minutes it was a brilliant away performance from us. We passed well and created a number of very good opportunities.

"We showed bravery, we dominated, and obviously the sending off is a turning point. We found ourselves 2-0 up and I'm thinking this is a perfect performance.

"When they scored the first goal we didn't show composure. When you're desperate to win there's a nervousness that sets in.

Whoever comes in faces a tough task of revitalising the Sky Blues, and getting them out of the dreaded relegation zone in the division.
