Coventry City midfielder Zain Westbrooke is set to leave the club to join League One side Bristol Rovers according to Football Insider.

It is claimed that the midfielder has agreed terms to sign for Bristol Rovers, having agreed a three-year deal with the club ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

It's set to be an interesting summer transfer window ahead for Coventry, with Mark Robins looking to make the necessary additions to his squad ahead of their return to the Championship.

The Sky Blues finished top of the League One table after the majority of clubs in the third tier agreed to finish the 2019/20 season on a PPG (points per game) basis.

That resulted in Robins' side being promoted back into the Championship, much to the delight of the club's supporters.

But with any potential arrivals at the club, it's likely that there will be players leaving before the new season gets started in September.

Westbrooke has been with Coventry City since 2018, and has made 41 appearances in total for the club since he arrived on a free transfer.

But he struggled for consistent game time in the 2019/20 season, and made 33 appearances in all competitions for Mark Robins' side as they won a long-awaited promotion back into the Championship.

He'll join a Bristol Rovers side that finished 14th in the League One table last season, and will be eager to prove himself at his new club.

The Verdict:

I think this is the best move for both parties involved.

Westbrooke isn't going to be featuring much for Coventry City next season as they prepare for life back in the Championship under the management of Mark Robins.

A move to Bristol Rovers will have been tempting for Westbrooke as well, as I think they're a club that are certainly heading in the right direction.

If he can settle down well with them, then it'll be a shrewd signing for the League One club.
