Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mark Robins has confirmed that he wants to keep Duckens Nazon at Coventry City beyond the January transfer window, with the Sky Blues hopeful of extending the striker’s loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Coventry moved to sign Nazon on-loan from Wolves in early August, with the striker making a positive impact at the Ricoh Arena during his early months with the Sky Blues. The striker has scored six goals across all competitions in his 16 appearances, including five in Sky Bet League Two, helping Robins’ side to sixth in the table after 16 fixtures.

Nazon’s loan with Coventry expires in January, but Robins is keen to bring the 23-year-old back to the Ricoh Arena until the end of the season, as he looks to bolster Coventry’s chance of promotion, he said: “He’s not our player so it’s difficult but yes, we’d like to keep hold of him.”

Wolves, who currently top the Championship table, allowed Nazon to play in Coventry’s FA Cup tie with Maidenhead on Sunday, which indicates the striker is not part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans at Molineux for the second-half of the season, which could open the door for an extension to his loan spell with Coventry.

Coventry will be without the striker over the next two weeks, with Nazon away on international duty.

The Verdict

It is easy to see why Coventry would want to extend Nazon’s loan spell with the club, after the striker made a classy start to his career at the Ricoh Arena.

Robins is looking to guide Coventry back up the footballing pyramid, and keeping Nazon, a natural goalscorer, at the club could be key to helping the Sky Blues out of League Two.

Wolves’ permission to let the 23-year-old play in the FA Cup on Saturday suggests that he will be spending the second-half of the season out on-loan.
