Coventry City are interested in signing Jordy Hiwula from Huddersfield Town this summer.

According to HITC Sport, Coventry keen on taking Hiwula off Huddersfield’s hands, after the striker failed to establish himself at the Premier League club.

The 23-year-old is a former Manchester City trainee, who has been with Huddersfield Town since the summer of 2015.

However, during his time in West Yorkshire, Hiwula has managed just one senior appearance for the Terriers.

The highly-rated striker has spent time out on-loan across the Football League, however, with Wigan, Walsall, Bradford City and Fleetwood Town all benefitting from his service.

Last season, whilst on-loan in League One with Fleetwood, Hiwula returned 12 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions, with eight of those goals coming in the league.

After a number of loan spells away from Huddersfield, the Premier League outfit are willing to move Hiwula out permanently, according to HITC’s report.

Mark Robins is looking to bolster his attacking options at Coventry ahead of the new season, as he prepares his side for a return to the third-tier of English football.

Earlier this summer, Coventry sold top goalscorer Marc McNulty to Reading.

The Verdict

Hiwula is a well travelled striker, who has impressed whilst out on-loan.

At 23, he has his best ahead of him and could turn into a very shrewd signing for Coventry.

If Hiwula can build on last season’s goal tally, he could be one player in contention to replace McNulty’s goals at Coventry.
