Coventry City are exploring the possibility of re-signing Newcastle United midfielder Gael Bigirimana on an emergency loan deal, a club insider from Coventry has confirmed to Football League World.

The 22-year started his career with the Sky Blues, playing 26 times before his move to the North East for an undisclosed fee.

However, since moving to St James’ Park in 2012 he has played just 26 games, scoring once, and actually spent the second half of last season on loan to Scottish giants Rangers.

While Tony Mowbray’s priority is to bring in an experienced centre-back following the season ending injury to Reda Johnson, FLW have been informed that Coventry are still monitoring Bigirimana’s situation as they look to bolster their midfield.

Newcastle manager Steve McClaren is known to be keen to let some of those on the fringes of side leave as he continues his overhaul of the squad.

Coventry fans…what do you make of the news? Would you like to see Bigirimana back at the Ricoh? Do you think you could do with more players in central midfield? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
