Coventry City are interested in signing goalkeeper Lee Camp on a free transfer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sky Blues are looking to bring in emergency cover for first-choice shot-stopper Marko Marosi, who picked up an injury last night.

Marosi was taken off in the dying embers of the 1-0 win over Cardiff City after taking a blow to the face, subsequently fracturing his cheekbone.

Ben Wilson came on to replace him with only minutes left to play, but emergency cover will be needed ahead of this weekend's trip to Norwich City.

According to Alan Nixon, free-agent Lee Camp is alerting interest from Coventry, with the experienced shot-stopper still on the lookout for a new club.

Camp made 40 appearances across all competitions for Birmingham City last season, before leaving St. Andrew's upon the expiration of his contract last term.

City have made a decent start to life back in the Championship, and sit three points clear of the relegation zone following last night's win.

The Verdict

Camp is a solid pair of hands and he could have a good influence on and off the pitch, no matter how long he is at the club for.

It's interesting to see whether he'll come in and play this weekend, or whether he will be used as back-up to Ben Wilson, who replaced Marosi on Wednesday.

It makes perfect sense given that Camp is local and won't cost a single penny in terms of transfer fee.
