Coventry City legend Steve Ogrizovic has hinted that the Sky Blues could sign both Bristol City loanee Liam Walsh and Aston Villa loanee Callum O'Hare in the summer.

The duo have been fantastic for Mark Robins' side this season and have been key to helping them climb to the top of League One.

The Sky Blues' promotion push has been put on hold for the time being as all EFL fixtures have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the season paused, clubs will no doubt be considering their strategies in the upcoming transfer window and it looks set to be an intriguing one for Coventry.

The Midlands side look well set to secure promotion to the Championship and securing permanent deals for two men that were integral in getting them there, Walsh and O'Hare, may be at the forefront of their minds.

Both players' deals at their parent clubs expire in the summer, though City are understood to have a 12-month extension for Walsh.

Speaking to Coventry Live, Orgizovic has discussed summer moves for the loan duo and hinted that if circumstances allow, both could join the club.

He said: "Would they be a benefit to the team next season? One hundred per cent, yes.

"If you could get Walsh and O’Hare you’d do it every day of the week. The reality is, though, how much would they cost and how much would their wages be?”

O'Hare has reportedly turned down new contract offers at Villa and Orgizovic indicated that is good news for the Sky Blues.

He said: "If Callum hasn’t signed then maybe it’s for football reasons rather than financially. And if it’s for football reasons then Coventry have got more chance of getting him because you would imagine he will want to be playing more regularly and he knows he would do that at Coventry."

On a potential move for Walsh, he added: "In my experience, most players will go to the team that offers them the most money.

“That said, a good agent will make sure the cap fits and he certainly looks very comfortable at Coventry.

“If there’s not a lot of difference in the finances then you’d choose the club where you feel most at home and where you feel your future is going to be best suited.

“With Liam Walsh’s situation, it’s probably not in his or Coventry’s hands. If Bristol City have got an option on his contract they could pick it up and there’s not a lot Liam and Coventry can do.

“And if they don’t pick the option up I am sure Coventry will be straight in there to bang a good offer in to him.”

The Verdict

Walsh and O'Hare have been absolutely fantastic this season and deserve a lot of credit for helping Coventry to where they are in the table.

Given the importance of the duo, you'd imagine they will look a different side if they're unable to bring either player back next season.

At this point, it looks like it may be tough for them to bring back Walsh as Lee Johnson has suggested he is excited to get him back.

O'Hare could be an option, however, but you feel that may hinge on future offers from Villa and whether Coventry are promoted.
