According to the Coventry Telegraph, Samba Diakite is currently on trial with League One strugglers Coventry City with a view to joining the West Midlands outfit.
Coventry boss Russell Slade has given Diakite the opportunity to impress as he looks to strengthen his side ahead of a relegation battle.
The Sky Blues find themselves at the foot of the League One table and Slade is looking to add new players to his squad to help them climb away from the drop zone.
Diakite is on a week long trial at Coventry as he attempts to reignite his stalling career.
The Mali international previously played for Queens Park Rangers between 2012 and 2016, including a spell in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old was released by the Championship club in the summer and has been a free agent ever since.
Diakite is renowned for his box-to-box midfield performances and his no-nonsense approach to tackling.
