Coventry City have completed the signing of Marvin Sordell on a free transfer, club’s official website has confirmed.

Sordell is the Sky Blue’s second signing of the summer, who sealed Derby forward Kwame Thomas last week on a two-year deal.

The former Watford and Burnley striker was expected to be unveiled alongside Thomas, but the deal was delayed due to online issues.

The 25-year-old was released by Colchester United in the summer after being relegated from League One in May.

The striker netted 6 goals in 29 games for the Essex side last term, but his campaign was cut short in January by a serious ankle injury that required surgery.

Sordell has represented England at both Under-20 and Under-21 levels. He scored in his only game for the Under-20s in February 2011 and scored three goals in 14 games for the Under-21 side.

He was also selected in Stuart Pearce’s Great Britain squad for the London 2012 Summer Olympics, making three appearances for the side.

The forward will link up with his new team mates to prepare for their first League One fixture of the new campaign against Swindon Town on the 6th August.

Coventry fans… What do you think of your new signing? Will he bring goals to the Ricoh Arena? Let us know in your thoughts and opinions below!
