Reading's David Meyler is set to be heading out on loan to Coventry for the remainder of the season, according to reliable journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The HITC journalist broke the news on his Twitter, and the move certainly won't come as a surprise to Reading supporters, many of whom are keen to see the back of Meyler.

Meyler arrived from Hull in the summer but has struggled to make a notable impact with the Berkshire-based side this season, under both Paul Clement and newly appointed boss, Jose Gomes.

Gomes evidently doesn't rate Meyler very highly and was transfer listed earlier this month, according to the Reading Chronicle, along with a number of fellow Reading players.

The Royals are keen to clear out any deadwood currently with the club and Meyler falls under that category.

He could prove to be a useful addition for Coventry in League One and would have a point to prove to Reading, after being frozen out since joining the club.

It remains to be seen as to whether this latest update will develop, but Coventry will have to act quickly to come to an agreement with Reading for Meyler, with just hours left of the transfer window.

The Verdict

This is ideal news for both Meyler and Reading.

He wasn't getting enough game time and it came as no surprise to see him being transfer listed by the club earlier this month.

A move to Coventry will see him get regular playing time under his belt and he'll hope he can stake a claim for a place in the Reading starting XI next season.
