Coventry City have made a spectacular start to the new Championship season, picking up 22 points from their opening 11 games.

Averaging a very healthy 2 PPG, Mark Robins' side have managed to assemble somewhat of a promotion push early on in this campaign, and whilst it is still early days, they have built an excellent platform to build on.

Promotion to the Premier League is not beyond the realms of possibility, and Coventry boss Mark Robins has outlined that it is his dream to manage in England's top-tier, during an interview with Coventry Live.

The Sky Blues are yet to drop a point on home soil this season, and whilst their away form has not matched, the early signs suggest that this early pressure can be sustained.

Speaking with Coventry Live, Robins stated his Premier League intentions, when questioned about the money that other clubs have previously tried to throw in to win promotion: “I don’t want to comment on individual clubs because it’s nothing to do with me. Whether I have got sympathy or not doesn’t make any difference.

“The fact is it should just point to the fact that you have to try to not chase the dream.

“Everyone wants to play in the Premier League; I want to manage in the Premier League, there’s no two ways about it, and I think everyone would do."

The verdict

Robins is proving to be an excellent manager in the Football League, steering The Sky Blues from mid-table mediocrity in League 2 to Championship consolidation.

Now, Coventry are in a position where they have a genuine shot of making the play-offs, or even beyond.

His progression with the club makes him one of the best managers in the division, and because of the rise through the lower divisions, perhaps his success has gone under the radar.

His Premier League ambitions are certainly not far-fetched, and if Coventry continue on the upward trajectory that they are on, then it may come sooner than most would think.
