Coventry City managed to enter the break for the start of the World Cup on a high by extending their winning run in the Championship to four games last weekend.

A brace for Viktor Gyokeres allowed the Sky Blues to seal all three points in their showdown with Queens Park Rangers.

Currently 11th in the Championship standings, Coventry will resume their campaign on December 10th when they head to the Select Car Leasing Stadium to face Reading.

Ahead of this upcoming clash, we have decided to take a look at three things that will be playing on Sky Blues manager Mark Robins' mind over the break...

Potential January transfer business

Now under new ownership, it will be interesting to see whether Robins will be given sufficient funds to invest into his team in the January transfer window.

Whereas Coventry already have a squad which is capable of achieving success in the Championship, the addition of some classy operators in the New Year will boost their chances of challenging for a top-six finish.

When you consider that Robins has a good track-record when it comes to signing players, it wouldn't be at all surprising if he nails his recruitment.

Matt Godden's road to recovery from injury

Matt Godden sustained a serious ankle injury during Coventry's clash with Stoke City in October.

With the forward set to be out of action for three to four months, Robins will be hoping that the 31-year-old does not suffer a setback in his road to recovery over the international break.

When Godden is fit enough to feature in the New Year, he will be determined to play a key role for Coventry during the remainder of the campaign.

Before suffering his injury, the forward managed to provide four direct goal contributions in 12 league appearances.

Preparations for Reading clash

Robins will be preparing for Coventry's clash with Reading in the coming weeks by taking a detailed look at the club's strengths and weaknesses.

The Royals have been very inconsistent this season as they have won nine and lost 10 of their 21 league games.

When you consider that Reading have only prevented their opponents from scoring on six occasions at this level during the current campaign, Coventry could cause them all kinds of issues if the likes of Gyokeres and Callum O'Hare are firing on all cylinders.
